As many of you know, for the past two years, Marla has been raising funds and awareness to start a non-profit called “Rhythms in Peace’, that would be dedicated to the education and preservation of frame drumming traditions from around the world.  She was also raising money to fund the first products in support of this non-profit, a collaborative global “peace CD” and Educational Drumming DVD to feature musicians in Morocco, Israel and the USA. Marla was commited to this vision, and worked hard on promoting it, but was not able to raise the proper funds to see it through properly thus far.

 

EXCITINGLY…An upcoming “dream” WORLD TOUR for /Fall 2010 (Europe, Japan, Israel & Australia), has been presented to Marla and has decided to use the funds previously raised for the non-profit, towards finishing her debut World Music Fusion CD, “Rhythms in Peace”.

Marla still looks forward to going to Morocco and Israel, to collaborate with the various music groups, (especially the Women’s Ensemble in Morocco, The Houyarites ), as well as starting the non-profit.  But for now, her focus, her 100,000% commitment, her devotion, is on completing her debut album, a project in the works for over eight years

The message behind her CD will stay the same: supporting global peace, and she will still create with musicians from Morocco, Israel and the USA. Yet, she will work with artists who live locally in the USA and not travel abroad to record.  THINK GLOBALLY –ACT LOCALLY!
