Want to learn how to drum? understand rhythm? improvise? learn about world
music?
Here's your chance to delve in deep in the world of hand drumming,
where
where you will gain the tools to be a creative hand drummer, learn how to
drum, learn trance-inducing rhythms from around the world and practical ways
to use drumming as an expression for optimal health.
Workshop includes exploring…
DRUMMING BASICS:
* How to compose and create your own rhythms.
* Tools to be a solid, strong and savy drummer.
* Understanding of music styles from around the world.
MIDDLE EASTERN DRUMMING:
* Basic and advanced playing strokes for the Frame Drum.
* Learn traditional rhythms from Turkey, Greece and Persia.
INDIAN DRUMMING:
* Explore basic Tabla strokes, compositions and talas (time cycles).
* Develop your rhythmic skills with “Solkattu”, vocal percussion from South
India.
AFRICAN DRUMMING:
* Learn traditional funky polyrhythms & grooves from Morocco and Ghana.
PLUS:
*Melt into gentle yoga stretches that prepare the body for drumming.
*Explore the mesmerizing trance-inducing effects of chanting while drumming.
*Grounding-in with Pranayama exercises to live drumming.
NO DRUMMING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
